OSH India 2024 welcomes 6,700 trade visitors in Mumbai

With the Indian occupational safety sector expected to reach $17.8bn by 2030, there is clearly strong growth potential, as illustrated by the participation levels at Informa Markets’ occupational safety and health (OSH) expo and conference (OSH) India 2024 show, which concluded 23 November in Mumbai.

Organisers say 6,700 trade visitors attended, taking part in key sessions on risk assessment on construction sites, global safety challenges, and emerging technologies in workplace safety.

The three-day event gathered international experts and leaders from a fast expanding OSH sector.

The personal protective equipment (PPE) market, also in focus at the show, is also on a robust growth path in India, and is expected to increase from $849.8m in 2023 to $1.4bn by 2032.

Guest of Honour at this year’s show was  Mr  Ram Bhagirathibai Digambarrao Dahiphale, additional director, Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Government of Maharashtra. He said: “Investing in the implementation of comprehensive safety measures and proper PPE is far more cost-effective than addressing the aftermath of accidents.

“OSH India plays a vital role in spreading awareness, fostering innovation, and inspiring action toward achieving the ultimate goal of zero accidents in industries.”

Mr Yogesh Mudras, managing director, Informa Markets in India, added: “Occupational safety is no longer a mere compliance requirement; it has emerged as a core element of sustainable business practices and employee well-being. The overwhelming participation at the 12th edition of OSH India, with over 250 brands, 1,000 innovative products, and around 6,700 trade visitors, highlights the sector’s growing commitment to innovation and collaboration.

“This year, we have witnessed a remarkable focus on leveraging technologies like AI-driven safety tools and sustainable PPE solutions, alongside critical discussions addressing emerging risks across industries. The expo and conference have become instrumental in driving actionable strategies and fostering a culture of safety that resonates across organisational hierarchies.”

Mudras added that, “With India's workforce projected to reach 643.3m in 2024, reflecting a significant 6% growth, the emphasis on occupational safety has never been more critical. This demographic shift not only signals economic progress but also highlights the responsibility to mitigate workplace risks and create safe working environments. OSH India has become an indispensable platform for advancing safety culture in India by showcasing innovative solutions, enabling knowledge exchange, and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders.”
