The 16th edition of CPHI & PMEC India 2023 has drawn to a close, taking place 28-30 November at the Expo Centre in Greater Noida, Delhi – NCR.
Themed "Integrate Innovation, Sustainability, and Growth," this edition aimed to align and shape the roadmap for the next decade of Indian Pharma.
The event provides a platform for stakeholders to engage in extensive dialogues covering pharma machinery, packaging, analytical instruments, laboratory technologies, equipment, ancillaries, ingredients, and beyond.
The event is additionally South Asia’s largest pharma congregation, bringing together industry experts, manufacturers, the buyer's community, policy advisors, and key stakeholders, uniting suppliers, innovators, and pharmaceutical leaders.
The 16th edition is estimated to have seen 50,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors from 80+ countries, showcasing over 10,000 products.
Noting the relevancy of events such as CPHI & PMEC India, Dr. Veeramani S.V., chairman, Pharmexcil, says: “The Indian pharmaceutical industry is on a compelling growth trajectory, evidenced by an 8% year-to-date increase in exports and a remarkable 29% surge in October alone. This growth is propelled by expanding market opportunities, heightened demand in the USA, and critical shortages of medicines in the US and Europe. The domestic market has exhibited impressive growth, exceeding 10%.
“Driven by this momentum, I am confident in reaching the 130b mark by 2030, advocating for a consistent 10% growth in both domestic and export markets.”
Anil Matai, director general, OPPI adds: "While discussions revolve around India's pharmaceutical landscape in 2030, our industry is visionary, setting its sights on India in 2047. Exceeding the projected $130b mark, the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DOP) envisions an ambitious $200b goal.”
The event featured a Pharma Leaders’ Roundtable, designed to explore innovations within the pharmaceutical sector. Additionally, the India Pharma Awards celebrated excellence within the pharmaceutical space. Day Two saw the Women in Pharma Roundtable, aimed at acknowledging and celebrating the significant and continued contribution of women to the pharmaceutical industry.
