China - Organiser of the China Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, Reed Travel Exhibitions, has announced a dedicated meetings week, to take place in China, to run in conjunction with next year’s show, 7-9 September 2010.
The announcement came on the first day of CIBTM 2009 in Beijing and co-hosted by the Beijing Tourism Administration.
“Beijing has all the attributes of a world-class meetings and incentives destination and our role is to help realise this potential,” said show director Graeme Barnett, speaking at the show venue, the China National Convention Centre.
Barnett said the aim of the show has always been to help grow the meetings industry throughout China. “We believe that our initiative to have a week entirely dedicated to the meetings industry will help China realise its potential,” he commented.
“Attracting large scale international corporate and association events with improved venues and facilities, access, accommodation and service standards must be underpinned by a professional skilled workforce, so developing people is critical.”
The meetings week will see leading industry associations such as MPI, ICCA and SITE involved in the creation of a diverse and rich programme of professional education activities.
RTE claims this year’s CIBTM is 35 per cent larger than the previous edition, which took place in 2007, with 324 exhibitors, over 5,000 appointments scheduled by 285 international hosted buyers and 6,300 pre-registered visitors for the three-day event.
CIBTM 2010 will take place from 7-9 September at the CNCC in Beijing.
