Singapore – Singapore Expo is pressing ahead with the expansion and renovation project it announced a year ago.
Work begins in the first quarter of 2010 on a new extension housing 24 meeting rooms, a Teflon covered roof, and the renovation and upgrade of the building’s infrastructure, including lighting, CCTV, escalators and fire alarm system.
The S$55 million (US$38.2 million) makeover is expected to be completed by June 2011, and will add nearly 10,000 square metres, the equivalent of an extra hall.
Plans to expand the 10-year-old venue were originally announced last summer.
Singapore Expo recently held a new exhibition and conference on gaming and hospitality from 19 to 20 August 2009, titled Gaming Asia Expo.
The event, organised by ComExpo, featured products, services, equipment, software and new inventions from exhibitors based in Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the US.
