Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre MD Cliff Wallace, CFE, has been honoured with the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Convention Center/Exhibit Hall Committee of the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM).
The IAAM is the largest international association representing public assembly facilities including convention and exhibition centres.
The award is presented to IAAM members showing outstanding contributions to the convention and exhibition centre industry.
Chair of the IAAM Convention Center/Exhibit Hall Committee, Kevin Duvall, said Wallace, pictured to the right of incoming UFI MD Paul Woodward, had made a difference in the professional development of many facility managers over the years.
Wallace, who is also chairman of Hong Kong - Shanghai Venue Management (Zhengzhou), told Exhibition World: "One of the things that I have enjoyed the most is the opportunity to nurture and inspire others within this industry to be as passionate about it as I have.
"This is the greatest of all industries. It is truly global and so many opportunities exist to learn, participate, make lasting friendships, get help when you need it, and help the industry grow. It scares me a little that this is a lifetime award; I thought that I was just getting started!"
Wallace was the first venue chief executive and Asian representative to be elected the president of UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, in 2007.
