Hamburg's Internorga 2023 set to dig into bakery and confectionery trends

As the ‘snackification’ trend is changing the range of products stocked by bakeries at lightning speed, transforming them from bread specialists into gastro-bakeries, Germany’s Internorga trade fair, which takes place in Hamburg, 10-14 March 2023, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of various snacks, speciality coffees, coffee machines, the latest food and beverage trends, sustainable packaging solutions and creative ideas for furnishings and fittings on an area of around 95,000sqm.

This year, the many product highlights and ever-popular formats such as the Back Stage will be supplemented by new opportunities for industry networking.

The range of products on offer for modern bakeries and confectioners has changed tremendously. Exhibitors will be spread over 10 halls in a show floor designed to facilitate interaction between all sectors and provide new ideas and valuable fresh impetus for sustainable business during challenging times, explains Matthias Balz, project manager at Internorga.

Domestic and international companies such as WMF, Dallmayr, Wolf Butterback and Vandemoortele will present their products in the ‘Food and Beverages’ exhibition area. While the ‘Craft Coffee Area’ brings together all the aspects of coffee in one place.

The ‘Digital Applications’ area brings together intelligent solutions that can help in making any company fit for the future.

Of particular interest to bakeries that offer snacks could be the ‘Kitchen Technology and Equipment’ exhibition area  Visitors will find small combi-steamers and high-speed ovens, as well as a wide range of modern display cabinets and counters.

The ‘Restaurant and Hotel Facilities’ halls, meanwhile, feature concepts for porcelain, cutlery, furnishings and accessories to bring a special ambience to a location.

Along with the introduction of the new regulations for reusable packaging in Germany in January 2023, the topic of ‘Packaging & Delivery’ has become a significant factor for bakeries and confectioners. This is why sustainable packaging solutions, such as reusable takeaway coffee cups, now have their own, enlarged exhibition area. Promising innovations in the packaging sector and other F&B trends will also be presented by several start-ups in the ‘Newcomers’ Area’.

The popular Back Stage, presented by the confectioners’ guild, will once again be another highlight for the bakery sector. Visitors can look forward to interesting lectures, presented by master confectioner and TV judge Bettina Schliephake-Burchardt.

There will also feature the Internorga Open Stage, a forum for discussing solutions to the current challenges in the sector.
