SINGAPORE - The organiser behind Cruise Shipping Asia is producing a new cruise event to serve the Asian market.
UBM International Media’s Cruise Shipping Asia will take place on 15-18 November, 2011, at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. A spokesman for the company said that Asia is the industry’s next major growth market, with Asian cruise passenger numbers predicted to rise by 40 per cent in 2010 to more than 1.5 million.
“Globalisation of the cruise passenger is one of the key areas of growth for the cruise market,” said vice president of UBM International Media, Michael Kazakoff. “As the industry expands from a North American base to passengers worldwide, we see Asia’s growing number of passengers as a strong indication that this region will continue to expand.”
The exhibition will feature product sectors such as destinations, itinerary planning and shore excursion services, port and terminal development, accompanied by a series of related conference sessions.
"The arrival of this major cruise event in Asia underscores the growing recognition of this market's strong potential, and will greatly complement our ongoing efforts in promoting Asia's cruise industry development," said Jennifer Yap, spokeswoman for Asia Cruise Association and managing director of Royal Caribbean Cruises (Asia).
