USA - The number of event planners being employed in the US will grow at a faster rate than the average for all occupations in the coming decade, according to a new report by the United States’ Bureau of Labour Statistics.
According to the report, employment of meeting and convention planners will grow by 16 per cent in the 2008 to 2018 decade. “As businesses and organisations become increasingly international, meetings and conventions become even more important.”
“In organisations that span the country of the globe, the periodic meeting in increasingly the only time the organisation can bring all of its members together,” it states.
Face-to-face contact remains ‘irreplaceable’, even in an age of extensive digital communication such as e-mail and video conferencing and, it claims, the level of global connectivity actually causes an increase in face-to-face meetings by bringing together people who traditionally would not have collaborated.
