World – The International Congress and Convention Association is to share data with the Union of International Associations in an effort to improve proposals for future events.
Brussels-based UIA collects over 60,000 profiles of international associations in their Yearbook of International Organisations. Data from the profiles will enhance ICCA’s database of approximately 4,500 regularly-occurring meetings.
The information will give a more complete picture of organisations in the industry, enabling ICCA to more effectively tailor proposals.
ICCA CEO Martin Sirk says: “While ICCA is the acknowledged global leader in meetings-related association data, UIA collects a vast amount of non-meetings-related background data on these organisations. This collaboration enables ICCA members to obtain a much more complete picture of each of these potential clients for zero additional cost.”
Sirk, who says international association meetings are “the most recession-proof segment of our industry,” believes the collaboration will give both ICCA and UIA a welcome edge over the competition.
Project coordinator for UIA, Carine Faveere, told us: “No one studying the association meetings market can afford to ignore UIA and ICCA. Their databases and statistical reports are complementary resources, enabling a more complete understanding of how, where and when international associations meet.”
