Macau extends MICE stimulus

Macau - The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has extended its Strategic Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events (MICE) Stimulus Programme by three months, after a seven-month run, in an attempt to attract more business tourists to the region.

An additional budget of MOP$21.83m (US$2.68m) has been allocated to the programme, which to date has supported 31 meetings and conventions, 26 incentive trips and 19 exhibitions with subsidies. A further 22 events, which are due to be held in 2010 to 2012, have been helped by the programme.

The 90-day extension is in place from 31 December 2009 to 31 March 2010.
