Austria - Reed Exhibitions’ Austrian information technology and telecoms exhibition ITnT has folded as the organiser looks to a new format to satisfy its audience.
The central Europe-focused event, targeted at the information technology and telecommunication sector was due to run in January next year, but has now been cancelled by Reed in favour of a new information communications and technology (ICT) convention, titled Cross-Con.
A spokesman for Reed said such a trade fair for the ICT sector was “too expensive” and “not focused enough” for the needs of exhibitors, adding that there is an urgent need for a new kind of ICT platform “no longer in the shape of a trade fair”.
Cross-Con will be launched at the end of April 2010, at Messe Wien. The MD of Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien, Matthias Limbeck, told Exhibition World that the new Cross-Con convention will directly supersede ITnT.
“Over the summer we have worked together with a number of the key players at ITnT on designing a new event concept,” he said. “The event is a modern and efficient convention tailored to covering the future needs of the various sectors in ICT and will be strong on content and ideally segmented to suit the target groups.”
A press conference, including exhibitors such as Samsung, Siemens, e-government; and a number of select visitors, will be held on 1 October to officially introduce the new concept.
