South Africa - South Africa Tourism’s ‘2010 Ambassador to the World’ has been announced as ex-Leeds United and South Africa footballer Lucas Radebe.
Radebe will work with South African Tourism between now and the end of the World Cup to help deliver destination messages and to help grow interest in South Africa globally, not only as host of the FIFA spectacular, but also as a business and holiday destination.
“We look forward to working with Radebe as 2010 approaches to spread the message of optimism and anticipation sweeping the country,” says tourism minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
Defender Radebe, capped over 70 times for South Africa, captained Leeds United for four years and once played in goal against Manchester United to cover for an injury.
