Tibet - Exhibition fever has reached Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, China, which is to allocate 500 million yuan (US$73 million) for the Lhasa Convention and Exhibition Centre, the first venue of its kind in Tibet.
A delegation from Lhasa travelled to Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan Province, last month, to discuss the project with the Chengdu Convention and Exhibition Group.
The 100,000 square metre venue will be built by the Lhasa Investment Bureau in Lhasa's east district, along with a five-star hotel and underground parking.
Following the project’s completion, it is hoped the LCEC will not only to cultivate new industries but also boost tourism and insurance, bringing exhibitions and job opportunities to Lhasa.
