SISO puts out call for US eventprofs to support Hospitality Job Recovery Act

The Society of Independent Show Organisers (SISO) has put out a call for support to the USA’s Hospitality and Commerce Job Recovery Act.

The Act is designed to support the event, travel and hospitality industries in the US. SISO are joining other industry bodies in calling for those who work in the United States’ MICE sector to support it.

They are encouraging people to use this link to contact their Senators, and reiterate the importance of the Act. There are templates for social media posts, as well as personalized letters, which people can add their names to and send.

The Act was put forward by Senator for Nevada Catherine Cortez Masto, who also helped pass a budget amendment in February to support the industry.

A statement from the opening of the Act reads: “The coronavirus pandemic froze convention, entertainment, hospitality and travel operations across the country, seemingly in an instant. The economic ripple effect of those necessary closures continues today. Despite early bipartisan action by Congress to provide direct assistance to both workers and hardest hit businesses, the travel and tourism industry continues to struggle and will likely take the longest to recover.”

David Audrain, executive director at SISO, commented: “On behalf of the Exhibitions and Conference Alliances, our business events community and the 6.6 million people who rely on our industry for their livelihood, SISO is asking for your help.”
