On 17 December, Sergey Voronkov, the president of the Russian Union if Exhibitions and Fairs, took part in the Congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs where he addressed the President of Russia Vladimir Putin direct. In his speech, RUEF president stressed the need to support the exhibition industry in these challenging times.
Voronkov emphasised the importance of the industry to the economy of the country and proposed measures for its development:
- the publication of an industry law,
- the introduction of Expo ID to facilitate the participation of foreigners in congress and exhibition events in Russia and Expo tax free to support foreign exhibitors
- the necessity of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates.
In response, Vladimir Putin promised to consider the proposed tools and to take appropriate decisions in support of the industry.
