REX Expo signals return of consumer exhibitions at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) successfully hosted its first major consumer exhibition in 2021, Malaysia International Home Renovation + Interior Design (REX Expo) 2021, 19-21 March 2021.

The Centre’s general manager, Alan Pryor, said he was delighted for KLCC to host its first public exhibition of 2021 as the industry re-opens after the local Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0 restrictions were lifted.

“We would like to thank our long-time client and all the exhibitors and visitors for placing their trust and confidence in us as well as for complying with our stringent new norm event standard operating procedures (SOPs),” said Pryor.

REX Expo has been running since 2015 and finally returned, with around 200 exhibitors, after multiple postponements due to Covid-19.

“We have exhibited at the Centre before and are very familiar with the Centre’s general safety standards. The additional measures that are in place due to Covid-19 were executed smoothly and efficiently without disrupting our moving in and set-up. There was no long queue for exhibitors or contractors during registration and the security team were extremely strict in ensuring we followed the required procedure and that in itself makes us more confident to be here at the Centre for these three days,” said Jeffrey Yang, creative director of exhibitor Art of Tree.

The Centre and its industry partners have long been advocating and demonstrating how events can be executed, with all pertinent health and safety measures in place, stringent SOP compliance and the provision of a safe and controlled event environment. The government has allowed phased resumption of meetings and events, with restrictions on events now lifted for a fourth time and allowing the entire supply chain in Malaysia to operate since 5 March 2021.

“The Centre is known for its uncompromising requirement on compliance with SOPs even before the Covid-19 pandemic, so we knew that the condition to observe and follow the new norm standards would be even more stringent and we were right. That was the primary deciding factor for us to participate in this year’s REX Expo at the Centre,” said A.W. Yong, senior sales manager, Beyond Arena.

A first time exhibitor, Joe Tan, natural manager at Cuckoo International, added: “There were more visitors here who are serious buyers compared to malls or other commercial venues. We have already made 100% more sales on our first day compared to the other shows we have participated in before.”

REX Expo, organised by EG groups Holding Sdn Bhd is a one-stop expo for homeowners with a wide range of interior design ideas, renovation solutions from experts, and home related products.
