Pittsburgh roundtable to offer organisers of midsize shows strong insights for improvement

When Midsize Show Roundtable (MSR) debuts in the US on 17 November in Pittsburgh, PA, the keynote address will be a conversation exploring the hidden leverage unique to shows with less than 3,600sqm net of exhibits. Mark Thomas, president, Pittsburgh Business Alliance, and Andrew Ortale, chief sales officer, VisitPITTSBURGH, will reveal how organisers can unlock local and regional data, riches, and resources.

“Midsize shows have midsize needs. That means they have options in terms of suppliers, destinations, and venues,” said Sam Lippman, president, Lippman Connects, producers of MSR. “Since the economy is entering another round of uncertainty, organisers who know how to pull additional levers will be better positioned to thrive. MSR is all about making better decisions, and this session is going to help change the way midsize shows conduct business.”

This keynote session will be a case study using the practices of the Pittsburgh Business Alliance, a non-governmental organisation. Organisers of midsize shows will take away a previously unexplored perspective and practical steps to achieve all these benefits:

  • Justify planning decisions based on established facts and credible projections.
  • Demand factual criteria for deciding major contracts and reduce the influence of schmoozing.
  • Use negotiations to bridge the gap between what you need and what you have.
  • Discover regional/local resources that are a rich source of exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and attendees.
  • Position your event as a business accelerator, delivering value to the business community.
  • Find previously unknown local stakeholders with marketing dollars available to your event.

Executives, directors, and managers of midsize shows can register until 14 October 14 at the early-bird rate of only $295. MSR delegates will gather for a Networking Reception and Dinner on 16 November before convening the next morning for candid information exchange and networking, facilitated by Sam Lippman.
