RX’s in-cosmetics Asia trade show which runs in BITEC, Thailand, has announced the debut of The Cosmetic Conference. The free-to-attend conference will feature a series of technical, science-based talks from experts at companies like L’Oréal to Shiseido, A*Star Skin Research Labs, Formulae 8, and Shieling Laboratories. Held 5-6 November, the event will be hosted at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangkok.
Asia Pacific is a booming market for beauty and personal care. This year, revenue in the region is projected to reach $253.1bn, which is 40% of the global market. The Cosmetic Conference will delve into such emerging trends in cosmetic science as microbiomes, pigmentation, ageing skin and more.
With over 650 exhibitors from various regions, in-cosmetics Asia 2024 will be the largest gathering in the show’s 15-year history.
AI and virtual reality are set to become integral to the beauty industry. As such, the conference will explore AI’s impact on the cosmetics market, valued at $3.22bn in 2022 and predicted to reach $15.75bn by 2031.
Tomo Osawa, regional Asia Pacific innovation centre director at Shiseido, will share insights on beauty’s influence on the ageing process, as well as on individuals with deep skin concerns.
The conference will also deal with the topic of misinformation. With misleading info rampant and editing apps distorting reality on social media, the event will seek to help formulators identify false information. Danilo Lambino, founder and director of Formulae 8 Pty Ltd, will deliver a two-part presentation under the theme, Making smart ingredient choices for new product development.
Suncare remains a hot category in beauty and personal care, with global suncare product values projected to grow by 4% annually until 2028. Dr Oliver Hofmann, official technical advisor, in-cosmetics Asia & technical director, Shieling Laboratories, will present key insights on achieving adequate protection beyond high SPF numbers.
Robert McPherson, presidium member at IFSCC, commented: “Collaboration between in-cosmetics Asia and the Cosmetic Conference makes total sense, as we complement each other perfectly. With over 16,000 members worldwide, the IFSCC is dedicated to advancing cosmetic research and fostering innovation.”
Sarah Gibson, event director at in-cosmetics Asia, said: “The APAC region is experiencing a pivotal moment as the beauty industry celebrates one of its most successful years. We encourage the industry to join us at the Cosmetic Conference for an inspiring programme that promises to expand the frontiers of cosmetic science and technology.”
