SpecTAPular Enterprises has joined forces with Talk2 Media & Events in a merger that it set to create a new, dominant force for consumer food & drink events in Australia.
The merger sees SpecTAPular Enterprises acquire Talk2 Media & Events’ Good Food & Wine Show, Australia’s longest running national food & wine event. SpecTAPular Enterprises are the team behind globally recognised Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS), Hunter Valley Wine & Beer Festival, Finer Drop Premium Drinks Festival and Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival.
Talk2 Media & Events CEO, Matt Pearce (pictured) said the acquisition was an exciting opportunity to grow the GFWS brand and event portfolio.
“We’ve been thrilled with the growth of the Good Food & Wine Show post-Covid and we can see there is so much more potential for the brand,” Pearce said.
“Joining the SpecTAPular portfolio is an exciting opportunity to take the Good Food & Wine Show to the next level.”
The team behind the GFWS won’t change under the new ownership, Pearce added, with GFWS event director James Laing to take a lead role in the new entity.
“We look at our events as a giant dinner table to gather around with our foodie family and friends. Joining forces with SpecTAPular makes the table bigger and creates room for more family and friends to come together, more often,” Laing said.
“It really is a perfect match. Our events and audiences are so similar, they complement each other without competing. Both teams have the same passion for entertaining events that bring people together with artisans across a huge variety of food and drinks.”
SpecTAPular Enterprises is part owned by Jerry Schwartz, who is Australia’s largest independent hotelier with 15 properties in his portfolio
Talk2 Media & Events will continue to organise The Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME), the trade event for the meetings and event industry in the Asia Pacific region.
