Hamburg Messe and Congress GmbH (HMC)’s supervisory board has appointed the business economist and trade fair specialist Heiko M. Stutzinger as the venue’s new managing director.
Stutzinger is currently the chief operating officer (COO) of the Utrecht trade fair organiser Royal Jaarbeurs. He is expected to take up his position in Hamburg at the beginning of 2024.
State councillor Andreas Rieckhof, chairman of the HMC supervisory board says: "By filling the position of managing director, we are positioning Hamburg Messe and Congress to enhance its positioning in national and international competition. With Stutzinger, we are getting a specialist with a lot of experience in the industry for these tasks.”
Stutzinger adds: “Hamburg is a fascinating and dynamic city with character and offers an attractive environment for sustainable business development. Formats on future topics such as wind energy, hydrogen and online marketing/digitisation are already taking place successfully at the location - a good starting point for successively expanding HMC's portfolio."
A business graduate, Stutzinger studied business administration at the EBS University of Economics and Law in Oestrich-Winkel, Argentina, and Berkeley in the United States.
After positions in management consulting, Stutzinger joined Messe Düsseldorf in 2008 and has since held a variety of senior positions at Messe Düsseldorf and VNU Group’s international branches, including Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and the Netherlands.
