Informa Markets in India (formerly known as UBM India), the organisers of Delhi Jewellery Gem Fair (DJGF) and Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF), has expanded into the combined North and Eastern region with the launch of Jewellery Connect Patna, 24- 26 April 2022 at Gyan Bhawan, Patna, Bihar. The show, which involved over 60 key exhibitors, was supported by prominent national jewellery associations and was attended by Shri Awadesh Narain Singh, chairman of Legislative Council, Bihar, among other local dignitaries.
The three-day Jewellery Connect Patna brought leading jewellers, import and export merchants and industry associations and showcased 150+ designer brands.
The show had participation from Indian cities Patna, Mumbai, Kolkata, Rajkot, and Delhi and congregated the jewellery community from Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, UP and Nepal.
Speaking on the launch of the first edition of Jewellery Connect Patna, Yogesh Mudras, managing director, Informa Markets in India, said: “We are excited to be back in the strength of the North and East sectors, this time in Bihar, one of the most untapped and promising markets for the jewellery community.
“The Indian Gems and Jewellery sector, the largest globally, contributing around 29% to global jewellery consumption and one of the leading contributors to the national economy, needs significant reforms and support.” The Union Budget 2022-2023 included positive measures such as reducing customs duty on cut and polished diamonds and gemstones to 5% and other breaks designed to help the industry's overall growth in the coming year.
