Danica Tormohlen (pictured) has joined the Exposition Development Company Inc. (ExpoDevCo) staff, taking on the new role of content director, publisher and editor-in-chief for the Society of Independent Show Organisers (SISO). She will be responsible for all SISO media activities, communications and content creation.
Effective 3 January, Tormohlen's appointment to the SISO management team full time comes after her spending the last 14 months working as an independent contractor on multiple case studies and communications projects for SISO. She has covered the trade show industry since 1994 and has served as editor-at-large for Trade Show Executive.
SISO and ExpoDevCo recently signed another three-year extension to the management services agreement in place since 2015. The new agreement runs through the end of 2024. Services provided by ExpoDevCo include all association staff, member services, and event management, with David Audrain serving as CEO and executive director. Tormohlen will report directly to the CEO.
“We are thrilled to have Danica joining our full time staff,” said Audrain. “She brings decades of experience in our industry with a tremendous reputation and knowledge that will be incredibly valuable to this new role for SISO.”
Tormohlen said she was excited to join the ExpoDevCo team: “My entire career has been spent in the trade show industry, and I look forward to continuing that tradition by providing relevant and timely content to SISO members through conference programming, newsletters, case studies, social media and online platforms.”
Tormohlen is a multi-award winning journalist and currently serves as co-chair of the Education and Events Committee for the Women In Exhibitions Network North American Chapter. Previously, she served on the education committee for the International Association of Exhibitions & Events (IAEE).
Tormohlen will develop and manage the content for SISO conferences, coordinating and leading the SISO Content Planning Committees. The next SISO conference is the CEO Summit, which will be held 21-24 March in St Petersburg, Florida. Other conferences in 2022 include the SISO Summer Conference, which will be held 9-11 August in Oklahoma City, and the Asia CEO Summit, which will be held 4-6 October in Singapore.
