Three events dedicated to the tourism industry have recently concluded at Rimini Fiera in Italy: TTG Travel Experience, SIA Hospitality Design and SUN Beach & Outdoor Style.
The events were organised by the Italian Exhibition Group, which has organised over 200 events to date, offering the most suitable tools for market analysis to the tourist industry chain.
Top managers of Google, Booking.com and Expedia attended TTG Travel Experience, focusing on topics such as investment into artificial intelligence and anticipating the needs of the client. The event welcomed 1,500 buyers from 90 countries, with 150 destinations represented.
Furio Gianforme (pictured), travel industry head of Google, said: “Mobile technologies have enormously changed the needs of the consumer, and will do so again with an even greater impact in the next five years.”
A new study presented at TTG Travel Experience found that the digital tourism market is continuing to grow in Italy, and is now worth €14.2bn, with a growth of 8% over 2017.
Filippo Renga, director of the observatory for digital innovation in tourism at Milan Polytechnic, said: “The digital component of the market grows thanks to the 'traditional' actors in the supply chain, such as accommodation facilities, agencies, specific tour operators, support mobility services, various services in destination.”
TTG also hosted the Italy Digital Destination Award, which was given to the region of Basilicata. Emilia-Romagna received recognition as the most reviewed region, while Trentino was the best region in terms of accessibility. Sicily was the region most loved by foreign tourists.
