MICE venues are set to gain international attention during The Basel Autumn Fair, the largest and oldest amusement fair in Switzerland, taking place 29 October - 13 November 2016.
The Basel Autumn fair originated more than 540 years ago and attracts around a million people to Basel.
On the first day of the fair, all the exhibition venues open at noon, including Messe Basel Exhibition site and Exhibition Hall at Riehenring.
“Did you know that Basel became a trade fair city in the Middle Ages already, when it was granted the imperial privilege of holding fairs? Until today, Basel Autumn Fair is the biggest and oldest funfair in Switzerland and, as a tradition dating back for over 540 years, forms part of the city's living cultural heritage. Basel developed into a true trade fair city and, right up until the present, remains the biggest and most important trade fair and congress venue in Switzerland, and one of the most significant in Europe,” Edith Thalmann, head of communications at Messe Basel.
