Auténtica 2024 becomes Southern Spain’s top gourmet food fair

Auténtica, Spain’s trade fair for the food retail and mass distribution industry, just came to an end, generating €12m for its host city of Seville.

Over 8,000 senior executives from distribution and retail companies, delicatessen stores and hospitality startups gathered at FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville. Over two days, 251 companies showcased the latest developments in the agri-food industry.

The event featured the Auténtica Congress, a meeting of 233 experts with various forums for specific branches of food retail and distribution. One such forum was the Culinary Fest by Gusto del Sur, in which renowned Spanish chefs Paco Morales, Benito Gomez, Hideki Matsuhisa and others explored the concepts behind their restaurant menus.

Some of the new products on display included citrus caviar, olive ice cream, pea protein-meat and hot ice cream sandwiches.

The trade fair is centred around the Mediterranean-style diet, which focuses on local, natural, high-quality produce. Product categories ranged from oils, dairy, baked goods, seafood, vegetables, charcuterie, pasta and kitchen equipment.
