Thailand’s tourism officials have celebrated 40 years of Thai-Chinese relations with a commemorative dinner, as part of their push to reassure business travellers about safety.
The Thailand Connect the world: China MICE commemorative dinner was designed to build confidence among visitors from Thailand’s leading inbound tourism market.
More than 120,000 business travellers from China visited Thailand in 2014 and trade between the two nations now exceeds US$63bn annually, officials said.
TCEB director of marketing and corporate image department Parichat Svetasreni said the bureau also used the dinner to present a special promotional package created in collaboration with the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association.
“This very special event also serves as a vital platform for us to provide update on the MICE situation in Thailand, while further strengthen the awareness of Thailand's business events industry among the media in China,” Svetasreni said.
Thailand has already welcomed a broad range of MICE delegates from China this year, including 700 delegates from Mary Kay Cosmetics, 400 delegates from Amway China and 12,000 employees from Infinitus, who attended a six-day holiday in Bangkok and Pattaya. Infinitus plans to send 20,000 employees in 2015.
