Hackers calling for “respect for Pakistan Cyber Space” took over the India Trade Promotion Organisation’s (ITPO) website last week.
The organisation’s website, indiatradefair.com, was out of service until late Saturday 8 August, according to The Times of India. ITPO organises trade fairs in India.
The website has since been restored, however a Google search still reveals a message from a hacker identified as ‘Zalim’ in the website’s summary. It states: "This website hacked by 'Zalim'."
During Saturday's attack, ITPO’s website was replaced with a black screen and text from alleged hacker ‘Guijar 007’ claiming to be a member of ‘TeamLeets’, the newspaper reported.
It reassured administrators “Don’t worry Your (sic) database is 100% safe :)” adding “Use your brain and fix the Bug (sic).”
The message called on the organisation to “Give Respect in ‘Pakistan Cyber Space’ & Save Muslim Peoples All Over the World”.
Earlier this year, hacktivist collective Anonymous claimed to have stolen 1TB data, including unencrypted passwords, from Expo Milan 2015’s ticketing provider, Best Union.
