Reed Travel Exhibitions has appointed David Hidalgo Ayala show director of ICOMEX and Event Production Forum, part of Reed Exhibition's Mexico portfolio.
Speaking about his appointment, Hidalgo said: “I'm delighted to join the Reed team and to have the chance to build on the great success of the portfolio.”
Before joining Reed, Hidalgo Ayala was general director of Mexico's Yucatan Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he was the strategy leader in charge of promoting the region to attract meetings, congresses and exhibitions. During his tenure, the number of MICE events in the region increased 25 per cent in 2014-15, while visitor numbers increased 45 per cent.
Hidalgo Ayala has also collaborated with the country's National Secretary of Tourism and the Mexico Tourism Board to produce studies on the economic significance of meetings to Mexico and the economic relevance of the city's convention centres.
“I hope to bring a fresh perspective though applying my experience in marketing, communication, sales, public relations, event publication and development of the meetings industry to ensure the continued success of ICOMEX,” Hidalgo Ayala said.
