AMERICAS - Foundations have been laid for the US$66m Mandalay Bay Convention Center expansion in Las Vegas, with an opening date scheduled for August.
According to venue management, an underground garage, construction footings and columns have also been completed.
The expansion will add 32,516sqm of exhibition space, more carpeted ballroom space and 900 underground parking spaces.
The project will welcome its first attendees in August, with the anticipated completion of the entire expansion and renovation in January 2016.
With the expansion, Mandalay Bay can now accommodate growing tradeshows as well as attract new events with over 83,612sqm of contiguous exhibition space.
"With business volume increasing, this change provides us with more flexibility to host a wider variety of groups," said Stephanie Glanzer, vice-president of sales for Mandalay Bay.
"Whether hosting a small corporate group, mid-size association or large tradeshow, each group will have their own dedicated area within our convention center along with a dedicated team to assist in every detail."
