Graffiti embraced at Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre

FINLAND - The Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre has gone off the trade fair and congress activity piste in search of urban graffiti culture.

The venue has commissioned a team of 10 graffiti artists to create a 160m-long painting on the exterior wall of the centre’s largest hall. The painting includes nine works of art and the project was one of 2010’s events for the city’s August Night of the Arts festival.

The graffiti will remain in place for until the completion of the new 15,000sqm Hall 7 in August 2011, and the demolition of the eastern wall.

An opportunity to indulge in graffiti arose when, during the expansion of the Centre, a roofed corridor was created between the construction site and the eastern side of the largest hall.
