Vancouver Convention Centre targets Asian business

CANADA – The recently-expanded Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) is shifting its gaze to focus on drawing exhibition and convention business from Asia.

Vice-president of sales and marketing for the VCC, Claire Smith, told Business Today: “Our new frontier is Asia. There’s potential to attract some of the other trade fair activity so we’re researching that.”

According to Smith, Asian organisers want to increase their exposure in North America, and one way to do that is by having events in Vancouver. “They could be inviting attendees from outside of Asia as well if they want to get exposure for Asian technology in a North American market, or may want to experience some professional excellence so they could have exhibitors and education from firms in North America or British Columbia,” she says.
