Jetstar and Tourism Western Australia sign MoU

AUSTRALIA - Australian budget air carrier Jetstar and Tourism Western Australia (WA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim to increase visitor numbers from the east coast of Australia to Perth.

Tourism WA will, for the next three years, match the airline’s marketing spend for advertising the new services.

State tourism minister Liz Constable welcomed the carrier’s decision to expand is existing services to Perth from Sydney and Melbourne and add two direct routes from the Gold Coast and Brisbane starting at the end of this year.

“This MoU will deliver an additional 40,000 new visitors to the state per year, spending an estimated AU$39m (US$35m) a year over the next three years,” says Constable. “It will also help to address two of the main barriers to visitation from the eastern seaboard - time and cost.”
