USA - Chicago mayor Richard Daley announced the recommitment of the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) to McCormick Place.
IMTS, which has taken place in Chicago since 1947, has recommitted to three more exhibitions through 2016.
In May, Illinois legislature passed a bill which allowed exhibitors at McCormick Place to do their own setup and contract out for their own electricians and catering. The change was not popular in all quarters, and there was hard talking with the trade unions. Labour costs have, however, reportedly been reduced at the venue.
Daley credited the changes for the show’s recommitment to Chicago.
