USA cancels Thailand travel warning

USA – The US Department of State has cancelled its travel warning for Thailand due to improvements in safety and security conditions throughout the country.

The Thai government ended its nightly curfew 29 May this year. On 6 July it renewed the emergency decree powers in 19 provinces, including the Bangkok metropolitan area where the protests occurred, but ended the emergency decree powers in five others.

On July 20 the Thai Government ended the emergency decree powers in three additional provinces, Lampang, Roi Et, and Sakon Nahkon.

The department said it would encourage US citizens in Thailand to register with the Consular Section of the US Embassy in Bangkok, or through the State Department's travel registration website.
