Canuck fellers lure WCTE timber event to Quebec

CANADA - The 2014 edition of the World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE) will take place in Québec City on 10-14 August.

Québec City’s successful bid for WCTE 2014 is due largely to Quebec and Canada’s progressive international standing in the timber industry, according to the ambassador for Québec City’s bid, Richard Desjardins of FPInnovations, “The forestry and wood construction industries, as well as their associations, were pivotal in their dedication to hold the 2014 WCTE event in Québec City,” he says.

Held every two years, WTCE events provide exhibitors and delegates with a forum to exchange technological advances, research results and design innovations in timber engineering. The event is attended by architects, researchers and manufacturers in the field of timber engineering.

Previous events have been held in Seattle, Tokyo, London, New Orleans, Montreux, Shah Alam, Lahti, Portland and Miyazaki. The only other Canadian city to have welcomed the event is Whistler in British Columbia.
