Anime Expo at Los Angeles through 2013

USA – Pop culture exhibition and conference Anime Expo will stay at Los Angeles for the next three years, organisers have announced.

Los Angeles mayor Antonio Villaraigosa visited the Los Angeles Convention Centre on the opening day of the expo, which claims to be the largest of its kind in the United States.

According to the mayor’s office, the convention will bring a total of US$108m to the city in spend as well as around 30,000 hotel room nights for its next three editions.

CEO for the non-profit convention organiser Society of Promotion for Japanese Animation, Michael Lattanzio, says: “Anime is grounded in a sense of flair, showmanship, romance and adventure wrapped in a blanket of creativity. So is our expo and so is Los Angeles. It’s the perfect pairing.”
