PCMA and CIC to co-locate events at AIBTM

CANADA - With one year to go until Reed Travel Exhibitions’ (RTE) debut US show AIBTM is due to be held, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Convention Industry Council (CIC) have confirmed a co-location of two of their events at the show in Baltimore, 21–23 June 2011.

Speaking at PCMA’s Education Conference in Montreal, 15 June, president and CEO, Deborah Sexton, confirmed that the association, which represents more than 6,100 meeting industry leaders from 16 chapters in the US and Canada, will be holding their biannual education conference at AIBTM. AIBTM and America Meetings Week is also set to host CIC’s 2011 Hall of Leaders Gala held in conjunction with the PCMA conference.

“The Reed family of shows has a history of bringing together leaders from the global meetings, association and travel industry, and therefore we expect our attendance at the dinner to far exceed the record we set this year,” says CIC’s CEO Karen Kotowski.

AIBTM, together with America Meetings Week, is targeting attendance of 3,000 meeting planners and 300 exhibiting companies.

The PCMA board has also approved PCMA’s first new chapter in 10 years, Mexico, making it PCMA's third international chapter.

“I think that having a PCMA Mexico Chapter will benefit the whole country in bringing Mexico to the next level in the meeting segment,” says groups and conventions director for Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, Fernando Cervantes.
