Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre ISO 14001 certified

MALAYSIA - GM of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Peter Brokenshire, has picked up the environmental management systems ISO 14001:2004 certificate, presented by Puan Khalidah Mustafa,MD of auditors SIRIM QAS, for his centre.

KLCC becomes the first convention centre in Malaysia to be certified.

Brokenshire said that ISO 14001 would spur the centre to continually improve its environmental performance and “ensure better acceptance in a growing ‘green’ world”.

ISO 14001 is a tool which provides assurance to management that it is in control of the organisational processes and activities that have an impact on the environment. Besides ISO 14001, the Centre is ISO 9001, ISO 22000, OHSAS 18001, EarthCheck Bronze and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certified.

KLCC has also secured the Congress and General Assembly of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG Congress) in May 2014. Malaysia won the bid for the 3,000-delegate convention, over Istanbul, at the recent XXIV FIG International Congress in Sydney, 11-16 April, 2010.
It will be the first FIG International Congress to be held in Asia in the federation’s 136-year history.

The winning bid can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), the Association of Authorised Land Surveyors Malaysia (PEJUTA) and ‘Team Malaysia’, comprising KLCC, Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Airports Holdings and KL City Council.

KLCC has confirmed 44 conventions and exhibitions for its 2010 event calendar.
