International event to generate over £50m for Birmingham

UK - Birmingham is hosting Ipex this week, with the global technology event for the print, publishing and media sectors set to generate over £50m for the city.

Ipex is expecting to see around 75,000 attendees visit the NEC, with about 45 per cent of those coming from overseas. Marketing Birmingham has worked with the Ipex organisers, the NEC and other partners to offer visitors special rates on regional activities and hotel rooms.

"Ipex plays a big part in the city’s economic performance, with visitors staying in the hotels and enjoying restaurants and attractions throughout the city and region," says Marketing Birmingham’s commercial director, Ian Taylor. "We want to make all our events successful and make all visitors feel welcome."

A bespoke website has also been created for the event, and the new tourism centre at Birmingham International Airport has been branded as an instant welcome point for visitors.

Ipex takes place on 18 to 25 May at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.
