Macao – The Chinese government is partnering with a host of US organisers and production companies to launch a three-day cinema and entertainment technology expo.
The Macao, China International Digital Cinema Festival and Entertainment Technology Expo is the brainchild of a consortium of US-based companies. These include the team behind the biannual US entertainment technology expo Createasphere (HD Expo), as well as the producers Burma Road Productions and Randall Dark Productions.
The three-day event makes its premier 3-5 December 2009, bringing entertainment companies and broadcasters in China together with technology companies and international content creators.
President of HD EXPO, Kristin Petrovich, says: “For those of us who work in the community of content creators and entertainment technologists, China’s massive and rapidly growing economy simply cannot be ignored.
“There is so much going on there that we need to experience and, conversely, our decade plus experience in high definition and cutting edge technologies like 3D could be very beneficial to the Chinese at this critical moment.”
The expo is being launched with backing from the Macao, China government, and will also feature a digital cinema film festival, as well as panels and speakers discussing the implications of emerging technologies on the industry.
Exhibitors, panels and films will be announced alongside a full schedule later this month.
