Moscow Mayor decrees exhibitions can run again in capital

A decree issued by the Mayor of Moscow has allowed exhibitions and conferences to resume in full in the capital from 4 September, provided organisers and venues take into account the local requirements of sanitary and epidemiological safety.

Restrictions established in March have been removed to allow exhibition activities again.

The exhibition industry has been one of the most affected sectors of Russia’s economy during the Covid pandemic. It has been a period that has seen the Russian Convention Bureau, together with industry associations, developing recommendations on support measures for the industry, as well as measures for ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety for exhibitions.

Director of the Russian Convention Bureau Alexei Kalachev welcomed the Moscow decree: “We have gone through difficult times together. It was during this challenging time that it became apparent that by joining industry forces, demonstrating sustainability and confidence in the future, we can get the desired results. We are sure that many of our colleagues did not give up, but used the situation to find alternatives, revise business strategies and processes, expand competencies, which will now help to enter a new stage and increase the pace of overcoming the crisis. We hope that soon the situation in other regions of Russia will stabilise and congress and exhibition activity will receive a new impetus for development.”
