Mark Anderson, stalwart of the international exhibition industry for many years, has passed away. Born 9 July 1966, Mark died on 4 April 2023 in Purley, England, following a heart attack.
Former friends and colleagues Ian Croxson, Neil Frankcom and Steve Turner, who worked with Mark in London and in Shanghai, shared this short obituary with EW:
“Prior to his retirement in 2017, Mark was managing director of Rogers HK and PRC, having developed his career with the R.E. Rogers Group of Companies in the UK. He started as a messenger with the Croydon-based company and through hard work and perseverance, progressed to head the Asian activities of the group, relocating to Singapore and then Hong Kong.
“Passionate about the exhibition industry, Mark’s cup was always full. A most colourful character and truly one of a kind, Mark genuinely was larger than life. Perhaps somewhat unorthodox in his approach to business. sales and marketing, as well as in entertaining, he was a genuinely warm hearted humble man accustomed to problem solving and getting the job done.
“Such a shame his health deteriorated so soon into retirement, but as the old Chinese philosophy says: ‘The candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long’. With friendships forged over three decades in a chaotic industry, he will be sadly missed by the exhibition community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jasmine and Sally. Rest In Peace, Marky.”
