Informa Markets, a B2B exhibitions and market access business, has appointed Patrick Martell as its new CEO.
In January 2023 Martell (pictured), the current CEO of Informa Intelligence and COO of Informa Group, will become CEO of Informa Markets while continuing his role as Group COO.
He will replace current CEO Charlie McCurdy, who joined Informa in 2015 and will move into a new role as strategic advisor to Informa Group.
Since joining Informa in 2014, Informa Markets reports that Martell has had heavy involvement in the integration of Penton Information Services in 2016. The new CEO has been chosen for his digital and data knowledge, as well as his exhibitions industry experience.
Martell’s digital and data experience, paired with extensive exhibitions industry experience across the Informa Markets leadership team, will help build on that momentum, thus driving greater value for the communities and customers the organization serves, according to Informa Markets officials.
On his expectations for the company, Martel said: “The business is nearly back to full strength on in-person events and is expanding what it offers in terms of technology, data services and digital marketplaces.”
Charlie McCurdy
With 35 years in B2B events and media businesses, including the last seven as Informa Markets CEO, McCurdy (pictured left) has overseen the company’s acquisition of Penton Information Services, the YPI boat show business and the landmark UBM acquisition.
McCurdy will remain CEO through the rest of 2022 before beginning his new role in January. In this role, Informa Markets reports that he will continue to support its digital and data services development.
McCurdy commented that, due to the company’s return to in-person events in 2022, the business will be reinforcing its commitment to geographic and market expansion by deepening its partnerships in the beauty and personal care market and further expanding into the Middle East.
Informa Markets has announced that it is expanding its product team, having hired its new chief transformation officer, Trevor Attridge, in May.
