German exhibition venues host a fifth of all Germany’s vaccinations in first quarter

Around 1.7m coronavirus vaccinations took place at 30 German exhibition venues in the first quarter of 2021, according to AUMA, the association of the German tradefair industry. This means that of the approximately 9.8 vaccinations carried out in total in the country during the period, almost 20% took place on exhibition grounds.

After a slow start to the process in Germany, almost all of these vaccination centres have been well utilised since March.

Despite the slow pace of vaccine roll out in Germany, the country’s exhibition centres have risen to the challenge and proved their efficiency: generally with good traffic connections and easy to navigate, they have multiple suitable rooms, modern sanitary facilities, ventilation systems, high safety standards and offer high-quality technical support.

The majority of the venues’ space is still reserved for the main business -organising exhibitions, conferences and events - which is expected to get going again from summer 2021.
