ExCeL London, UK is set to welcome its first event of 2022 this week, beginning a packed calendar of more than 350 shows.
The MCN Motorcycle Show kick-starts proceedings at the Royal Docks venue this Friday (11-13 February), followed by events such as International Confex on 8-9 March, Bett on 23-25 March, ICE London on 12-14 April and MCM Comic Con on 27-29 May.
This summer also sees the likes of the International Liver Congress (22-26 June) and the Formula E World Championship (30-31 July) take place, with events running right up until late December. Shoptalk Europe and InfoSecurity are two events making their debut at ExCeL this year, as is The Clean & Tidy Show.
Last year, despite only opening for five months, ExCeL hosted 90 events and safely welcomed some 800,000 visitors.
Simon Mills, chief commercial officer at ExCeL London, said: “After a slight delay to the start of the year, we are expecting a buoyant 2022, with a renewed market confidence, particularly following the removal of the Government’s Plan B restrictions and an easing of travel restrictions. As well as a packed and diverse line-up of events, elements such as the opening of the Elizabeth Line and work beginning on our substantial 25,000sqm expansion programme, provide reassurance to our clients and delegates.”
He added: “Live events are such an important part of the regeneration of the capital and the Royal Docks area. Events hosted at ExCeL generate around £4.5bn (US$6.1bn) into the London economy and support more than 35,000 jobs.”
