Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) will welcome 80,000 visitors from 7-9 October for Australia’s biggest gaming festival, the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). 2022’s event will be the first one in person since Covid-19.
After switching to a digital format last year, the gaming festival will return to in-person featuring panels, expo halls, tabletop gaming sessions, cosplay championships, and tournaments.
According to PAX Australia (PAX Aus), the show will also provide an opportunity to meet with connections, interact with game developers, publishers, and brands, and get hands-on with gaming culture.
PAX is one of the largest events in the gaming industry, which is now worth AUS $3.41b (USD $2.19b) to the Australian economy.
In hosting this event, MCEC will be supporting the Victoria Government’s goal of making the state a hub for Australian game tech. According to MCEC, with more than half of Australian digital gaming studios being based in Melbourne, the venue is convenient and ideal for PAX Aus.
Peter King, chief executive of MCEC, commented: “We love seeing the vibrance and excitement of PAX at MCEC, and to welcome so many visitors across one weekend is what we love about this venue.”
“PAX is a celebration of culture and we are proud to be hosting it in person again.”
