Four ASM Global venues have been listed in Pollstar’s ‘Top 5 Arenas in the 2022 Australia/New Zealand Focus Chart’ rankings for total ticket revenue.
The top five rankings were as follows:
- ASM Global’s Qudos Bank Arena (QBA)
- Newcastle Entertainment Centre (NEC)
- RAC Arena Perth
- Brisbane Entertainment Centre (BEC)
In the Theatres Category, ASM Global’s Aware Super Theatre at ICC Sydney gained number one ranking, with both Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) and Cairns Convention Centre placed in the Top 20.
ASM Global CEO & chairman, Harvey Lister AM, said: “We have been managing venues across the Asia Pacific region for more than 40 years.”
“These results prove that in times of uncertainty artists, promoters, and audiences seek support from their trusted loyal partners to maximise guest experience.”
On QBA’s position in the ranking Steve Hevern, QBA general manager, commented: “Since operations commenced in 2006, we have taken great pride at being an inclusive, safe and well-operated facility, renowned for hosting the greatest artists and events in the country. To be named as the top grossing arena of Australia and New Zealand is a testament to that fact.”
ASM Global stated that, due to Covid-19, the company reassessed all areas of its operational practices, including increasing client engagement, improving revenue initiatives, and more cost-effective operations.
During the pandemic, ASM Global venues largely hosted indoor sporting events and non-traditional events such as film shoots. The venues also served as vaccination hubs for the community.
Led by ASM Global’s Group Director, Arenas, Tim Worton, a fresh new approach for venues was adopted.
“Collectively, we’ve had to rethink our marketing, increasing our direct customer engagement, further enhancing customer experience at our venues, and looking at more compelling and innovative ways to pursue commercial partnerships,” commented Tom Worton, ASM Global’s group director of Arenas.
He added: “In this business, nothing stays the same, being nimble and adaptive to change is pivotal to success,” Worton said.
