In a move that reflects southeast Asia’s importance to the live experience sector, ASM Global APAC has announced it is increasing its footprint in the Asia Pacific region and setting up a new regional headquarters in Singapore. The move is part of a plan to grow its overall operations in the region, the live entertainment specialist group said.
ASM Global CEO and president Ron Bension said: “We believe that this part of the world is ready for a phase of robust growth, and we’re investing in personnel and plans to ensure we’re at the forefront of a significant growth curve.”
ASM Global APAC chairman and chief executive Harvey Lister AM cited ASM’s under-construction Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong (pictured); the recently unveiled Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre (which ASM Global claims is “the greenest and smartest venue in the world”); and six future arenas confirmed to be managed by ASM Global in the region as examples of the area’s vast potential.
ASM Global Singapore will have a joint leadership team comprising two long-term industry specialists: executive vice-president, operations Paul Sergeant, OBE, a veteran 30-year venue management industry leader and Ed Sanderson, executive vice-president, venue development.
“This is an exciting development and reinforcement of the importance of this region to our organisation and the expansion of our regionally based business activities,” Lister said.
