Ascential acquires MediaLink

Global B2B media company and event organiser Ascential has acquired US-based media advisory and business services provider MediaLink for an initial cash consideration of US$69m, plus future earnouts.

MediaLink provides advice and services to media platforms looking to drive growth through improved marketing, and serves the consumer goods and services sector. Ascential works extensively in this sector through products such as WGSN, Cannes Lions and Money20/20.

The acquisition is designed to strengthen and accelerate Ascential’s strategy to own market-leading brands in complementary marketplaces, in addition to offering trusted information and connections to businesses.

The company is in a period of substantial growth, delivering unaudited revenue of $54m and adjusted PBT of $14m in 2016.

The transaction is expected to complete, subject to customary US regulatory clearance, within the next month.
