Live events provider GES has been awarded the internationally recognised OHSAS 18001 safety standard certification in conjunction with the British Safety Council, it has been confirmed.

The award is the result of the company’s on-going efforts to deliver services in a safe and responsible way with a commitment to protecting the well being of its staff, partners and clients both on-site and at GES facilities.

The OHSAS 18001 accreditation follows a rigorous external audit of the company’s policies and practices by the British Safety Council. The process included detailed workplace inspections, interviews and samples of operations to ensure robust procedures are followed to identify, control and minimise risk.

Jason Stead, managing director, GES UK said: “Recognised and respected in the UK and worldwide, OHSAS 18001 accreditation shows our customers that their events will be delivered to the highest health and safety standards. This is a crucial area for us - both as responsible employers and leading suppliers to the industry - and we’ll continue to review and improve our operations.”

GES’ group health and safety manager Alison Treacher added: “Best health and safety practice has always been at the heart of GES, and we are delighted that our work has been recognised with this accreditation. It gives our valued clients even more confidence in our services, and reminds our colleagues of the seriousness with which we treat their safety.”
